Mambo
The Mambo consists of a 5 cm thick aluminium platter and a massive 6 cm solid aluminium chassis. All attachments are secured to the chassis forming the base of the turntable. With 3 adjustable feet, the overall turntable is adjustable. The development of the new Silent-Platter allows for the following improvements: elimination of vibration caused by sound waves, dampening of bearing noise, increased inertia, and strong dampening of all frequencies from 400Hz to 5kHz.
The improvement in the platter was achieved by drilling 20 holes in the aluminium platter. These holes are then filled with round brass bolts called “Silencers”. The upper and lower end of the silencers are held by interference fit with rubber rings. The silencers are now integral parts of the platter, and strongly dampen it. Incidental vibration energy is reduced rapidly and the platter is calmed down as a result. The position of the silencers was determined through many test samples and hearing-experiments, it represents the best solution to improve performance. The inner silencers calm the field around the platter axle, and the external ones dampen the rest of the platter. The outer silencers also increase the inertia of the platter and therefore improve the wow/flutter. To make sure that there is no unbalance or eccentricity caused by the additional holes, they are drilled directly by the machine in the same process where the outside diameter is manufactured. With that the holes are positioned in exact relation to the platter axle. Every silencer is weighed before mounting and this ensures that all 20 silencers are exactly the same. You can see that we did everything to make sure the new silent platter of the Mambo is a technical masterpiece.
The bearing is the heart of any turntable. Complex research and development allowed us to invent a bearing which unites exact fit, lack of noise, low friction and long term stability. The platter axle consists of a hardened special steel, which is polished. The external drive motor of the turntable is run by its own electronic control. It is not like any other manufacturers motors which are power-synchronized - and therefore sensitive to the fluctuations of your AC current. It runs with its own high performance oscillator. All AC synchronous motors are normally speed-linked directly to the frequency of the main voltage from your wall. Our Alpha Power Supply completely decouples the motor from your wall voltage, making the Acoustic-Signature turntable invulnerable to AC power fluctuations. The Alpha is impervious to the negative effects household and computer appliances can have on a turntable drive. The mass of the platter with its inertia is an integral part of the turntable concept. Smallest bearing friction, complex drive control and large inertia guarantee perfect synchronization.
The tonearm mounting plates are adjustable. The mounting of any desired tonearm will be possible, with a maximum of 3 tonearm mounting plates on one turntable. Highest precision and the manufacturing in Germany guarantee reliability and performance of this turntable.
Reviews
HiFi &Records 1/2003: The Mambo is convincing from the firstnote;.. It was completely solid, was perfect structured. The per-formed fine dynamics of the bass was the best i´ve ever heard. There is no part which i can emphasise the overall performanceis superb in every part. My greatest respect to this turntable.
